Jarrell ISD has experienced 4.5% annual growth over the last 17 years. In 2008, the elementary school enrollment increased 25% while the enrollment district wide increased 19%. The district contains approximately 95 square miles. Jarrell ISD students excel in academic, athletic, and other extra-curricular accomplishments, with a total enrollment of approximately 725 students. The students benefit from a low student to teacher ratio that averages 11.5 to 1 across the three campuses, with teachers having an average of 12 years teaching experience.

Mission Statement

Jarrell ISD will have high expectations for all students. The district will make every effort to attract and retain the most qualified teachers available who will enhance the positive image of our schools in the community. The caring atmosphere provided by these teachers will help promote the positive self-image for the students in the district. Jarrell ISD will encourage positive staff morale by providing clean and attractive campuses.


Jarrell High School achieved “EXEMPLARY” standing and Jarrell Elementary School achieved “Academically Acceptable” standing in 2009 as rated by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Jarrell ISD, along with Jarrell High School, Jarrell Middle School and Jarrell Elementary School, received “RECOGNIZED” standing in 2010, the second highest rating from TEA.

Jarrell received the highest possible rating, Superior, on the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (School FIRST). The district was rated on 21 financial standards and received a perfect score. Jarrell High School, a 2-A school that is home to the “Cougars”, is located in Region IV, District 25. Sports opportunities include football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, track, and cross country.

Building Program

The voters approved a $14.9M bond issue in May 2005 for a new high school building which opened in the 2007-2008 school year. A $42M bond package passed in 2008 for a new 700 student elementary school (2010-2011), to remodel the existing elementary school, and to build a new middle school within 5 years.


The City of Jarrell is located in close proximity to several higher education campuses. Excellent academic programs allow for continuing education for the existing labor force and make for an immediate source of well-educated employees.
